Music Fills the Air

The Lonesomes entertain the masses at the Webber's 6th BBQ

I've been listening to and playing music for a long time, and I've been in bands randing from dixieland through hard classic covers, funk, alt-country, original rock, and more.  Since 1997 I've been playing here in Portland with the The Lonesomes, a four piece outfit made up of Phil Favorite and Mark "Toupee" Zehr (fellow University of Illinois alumni) along with Mark Dybvig, a fantastic Northwest gunslinger who we're lucky to have on our side.  The above link goes to our official web site.  Check it out.

Back in Illinois I played with Toupee and Dr. Jim Bury in a group called Organic Advisor.  The following links go to some .mp3s of some of our songs:

The band logos created by Scott Westgard appear as the header to this page.  Below are some thumbnails of some pics taken in the early 90's of the original lineup...

Though I play all acoustic drums, at home I like to jam on my V-Drums which Roland now calls the V-Pro Set with TD-10.  When they came out they were revolutionary and still years later they are the standard.  Everything from countless standard drum sets to Latin, Orchestral, Far East, and Electronic are at my fingertips.  Plus, they're practically acoustically noiseless so my neighbors stay happy.  It was money well spent.  Oh, by the way, if you are into drums or drummers and you've never been to the DrummerWorld site, take the time to do so now.

Happy to be playing the tunes in April 1998 back in my old apartment!
