Christmas 1998 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico After Keri and I spent a wonderful Christmas at Keri's folks place in Kent, WA, the Hercey family met around Christmas-time back in Mexico again in 1998. This year we chose a place a little closer to home in Nuevo Vallarta at the Diamond Allegro Resort, located just north of Puerto Vallarta. It was a lot easier on Keri and I compared to our 1997 trip as we didn't even have to change planes on our flight from Portland via San Jose, California. Even though Keri starting getting a cold and a cough on her last day of work before the holiday and didn't shake it until she went back to work weeks later, we had a good time. From the looks of these pictures, you would think that all we did was eat food. That was not entirely the case. Our days were spent on the beaches walking or reading or in the hut playing Cribbage, while at night after dinner we went to the shows put on by the resort. The day before we left we went on a great all day cruise on a 50 foot trimaran and had super views, food, and drink compliments of the boat's partying cruise director Jimmy. Though we were only there 6 days, it was a nice change of pace from the work world and it was great seeing the family once again.
Getting ready for another fine meal! Keri was dedicated to eating lots of fruit and authentic Mexican meals. When in Mexico, do as the Mexicans!
Dennis and Kathe helped make the plans again this year. Dennis as usual played a lot of tennis and finished third in the resort tennis tourney.
Dad was as always happy that the package included "All you can eat!" We all felt badly for him as he received 3 books of crossword puzzles from Santa. Dad did show his old college form in winning the resort table tennis tourney and taking home a nice t-shirt as his booty. Congrats to dad!
A nice picture of mom by the dessert table - she had laryngitis for most of the trip but had a good time anyway.
Randy was stylin' and even got up to boogie with the entertainers on stage after one show - nice job Randy! |
